Small Voices

Identity & campaign amplifying young voices across Greater Manchester.

Commissioned by Manchester City Council for Our Year, a celebration of the city’s children – Art with Heart created Small Voices, a special podcast centred around children’s equality. Three schools across the city were paired with a poet and facilitator to write poems speaking up about issues affecting young people today, and making their demands to adults to create a fairer world.

Using the equals sign – a symbol for equality, and a pencil – a powerful tool for ideas and protest, the branding is based around the notion of equality and taking action through the power of writing. Excerpts from the children’s poems, in their own handwriting, were put front and centre on billboards across the city with the assertion that no voice is too small.

Small Voices was a finalist at the Manchester Culture Awards 2023 for ‘Promotion of Culture and Education’.
